Shoes of Preparation

I thought that a blog should have an appropriate name, so Shoes of Preparation it is, which is taken from that wonderful passage in Ephesians 6 on the Spiritual Armour.

A good place to start for those of you who don't know me is to say that I have been working for DPM for just over three years now and really enjoying the opportunities that God has given me to serve Him in His Kingdom, not least to run in order to raise funds for widows and orphans in Ethiopia who have been affected by AIDS.

Widows and Orphans are something so close to God's heart and in a sense, I think, He uses them and our response to them as a test of our character. Derek Prince wrote a book called Orphans and Widows, the Poor and Oppressed which I have found so challenging and through the blog over the next 5 months, I will seek to unpack some of that teaching.

Since this is also about running, my background in running is that I have run on and off for the past 15 years and although I have only done 1 race many years ago of 10kms, I have run the distance of a half marathon a few times. I have a young family and so my running time is usually early in the morning, often before the family are awake and travelling long distances to run races hasn't been an option, so most of my running is solo at the moment. I really enjoy running (once I have attained a reasonable level of fitness) and I think that it is one way to keep this mortal body of mine in shape for Kingdom work.
